PGCFD Workshop: Developing Simulations for Fire & Safety Training
This workshop teaches participants how to create computer-based simulations into Fire & Safety training and evaluation, particularly for the Prince George’s County Fire Department. It mixes both discussion and practical how-to’s on developing computer-based simulations using the SimsUshare Sim Builder platform.
Discussions primarily center on helping participants to identify areas in which simulations have been used to develop and strengthen performance, as well as identify potentially weak areas that can be improved in a positive manner, for example, communication, strategy, tactics, and developing/evaluating SOG’s/Policies. The how-to portion involves a guided, step-by-step approach for creating simulations using first-due photos (if participants bring their own) in walkarounds enhanced with animated smoke and fire effects that can evolve. The focus of the how-to’s will be on single and multi-family residential structures, but Jonathan will also sketch how simulations can be used for industrial, EMS/accidents, HazMat, and active threat scenarios.
